Undertaking a Full Case Assessment enables me to thoroughly consider your entire oral situation. From this I can discover what factors currently affect your dental situation, and consider the various treatment options available to improve this where necessary. My high success rates relate to care throughout treatment. The heart of this lies in careful assessment, planning and execution of the case. All too often traditional dentistry has taken a ‘one tooth’ approach where the dentist provides a repair to the broken part of the tooth, or mouth. It is important to look beyond this, identify the cause of problems and eliminate or reduce the impact of these where possible.
There are several parts to the Full Case Assessment.
Appointment of around 1 hour with me where the following will be considered:
After your appointment, your impressions will be sent to the dental laboratory where one of our qualified and highly trained dental technicians will work on producing models of your teeth from the information collected by me above. The models will be “mounted” in an articulator. This is an instrument that closely replicates the position and function of your jaw joints. Mounted models simulate the position of your teeth in relation to your biting position. The use of mounted models is essential as this enables me to work on the treatment planning stage of your case without the need for you to be present. It is like having your jaw in the office, without the time constraints this would put you under!
When I have all the information I can consider the best treatment options in your case. An individual treatment plan will be created, which will contain a number of options.
You will be handed the written Treatment Plan to read for around 20 minutes. I encourage you to annotate the Plan with your own questions.
Discussion of the Treatment Plan and any questions raised with me. This marks the end of the Full Case Assessment and it is then down to you to decide whether you wish to proceed with any of the treatment options, often we will make modifications to the plan at this appointment.
